Eagerly anticipating the recall of pitching prospect Joba Chamberlain, the Yankees redefined the term "anti-climatic" by recalling instead 34-year-old Jim Brower.  Chamberlain has cruised through AAA hitters as a reliever after dominating High A and AA ones as a starter.  Overall, he has struck out 135 batters in 88.1 nnings.  These breakdown further into 51/40, 66/40.1 and 18/8 in High A, AA and AAA respectively.

Tigers rookie Ryan Raburn went 1-4 with 2 RBIs from the six-hole.  42 ABs into his 2007 recall, he has 15 hits, 3 HRs, 2 SB and a 357/400/643 slash-stat line.  He looks to be starting four times per week and looks like a quality sleeper going into the 2008 season.

Padres starter David Wells looks done.  After allowing 7 ERS in four innings of work, he now sports a bloated 5.54 ERA.  And half his games are at Petco Park!  His road ERA is north of 7.50 and his WHIP is greater than 2.00.  He is never again to be started on the road and shouldn't be on any roster regardless.

Cubs OF Alfonso Soriano now has a slight tear in his quadriceps.  The team did recall 2B Eric Patterson to take Soriano's roster spot.  With three weeks to go until the rosters expand (and until the minor league season ends), one should expect Patterson to spend the rest of the yesr with the big club.
