My Money League Draft Review (pass the Kool-Aid)

My money league draft was late Saturday night and it was a festival of football, friendship and drinking. All of which probably contributed to the cold I came down with yesterday. Ugh. But after drinking a lot of (non-alcoholic) fluids and getting some sleep, I'm ready to go again. The draft for my office league is tonight so I need to get my head in the game.

But first, here's the money league team I drafted. The first five rounds of the draft is via an auction so the players don't always fit into standard "first round, second round, etc" tiers. The remaining sixteen rounds are a traditional serpentine draft which is a little easier to understand.

Right off the top, I can see that I'm a little weaker at running back than I'd like. There was so much value available at WR and QB that I let myself get away from running backs a bit. But this is a point per reception (PPR) league and both Westbrook and Barber catch a lot of passes, so I think I'll be ok. I have another three running backs that will be playing in Week 1 although all of them are backups. One of them may get their chance though, and I'm especially high on Betts' chances this season. The recent news that Thomas Jones came up lame in camp is also a good start.

If nothing else you can see that I drink my own Kool-Aid, drafting guys that I've been touting over the past few months (Barber, Cooley, Jennings, Duckett, etc). Choosing Favre as my backup was my nod to the Pro Football Prospectus, which thinks he's going to have a huge year. I hope so, as I passed on Alex Smith (a guy I've been touting) to draft him.
