The Blue Jays' AJ Burnett threw a 130 pitches in yesterday's no-decision against the Devil Rays. I don't know what the correct number of pitches a player with Burnett's injury history should throw, but like pornography, I know it when I see it.
In the same game, the Devil Rays' Edwin Jackson tossed a gem. Hopefully, it changes no one's timetable to replace him in the rotation. In the stock market, that appearance would be deemed a dead cat bounce.
With their improbable comeback against the Dodgers, the San Diego Padres now own the best record in the National League. Is it East Coast bias that I wasn't even aware they were close? How is it a team with no regular hitting over .300, and a team AVG of .243 can accomplish that?
There is a full slate of chats today thanks to yesterday's MLB Draft. Will Carroll's chat should be informative as his uber-presence has been missed in the past week or so. I am also curious how Jayson Stark's chat procedes following his opening pitch for the Trade Season.
