Tiger's closer blew-up spectacularly last night by allowing five earned runs in an inning's work. A 6.04 ERA and 1.75 WHIP says he should be on the Closer Watch, but injuries to Joel Zumaya and Fernando Rodney have left the Tigers with no other options. I wonder if Armando Benitez is available?

The White Sox recalled OF Jerry Owens to replace Darin Erstad. I've liked him for a while. Unfortunately, I was unable to add him to my AAKO 124.14 because I had no roster flexibility in my OF/DH. He should be a good short-term play for stolen bases.

The Devil Rays recalled starting pitchers J.P Howell and Andy Sonnanstine. Sonnanstine's 5:1 K/BB ratio makes him one to watch. Neither can pitch worse than the pitchers they replaced, Casey Fossum and Jae Seo.

Speaking of recalled AAA starters with great K/BB ratios, the Twins Kevin Slowey pitched a gem against the suddenly healthy Oakland A's. In six innings, he allowed a homerun to Eric Chavez in his last inning and allowed five hits an two walks to go with three strikeouts. An excellent debut, but I worry about the low Ks.

What the Hell is wrong with Marlins' lefty Scott Olson? He was lit-up again to run his season numbers to 5.35 ERA and 1.62 WHIP. A lefty with 166 Ks last season while pitching in a favorable park made him a trendy sleeper, but he has been awful or indistinct in all but a couple starts this season. It's been so bad that I am not sure he is a buy-low candidate either.
