Armando Benitez

2007 Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Tim Lincecum has given his owners nothing but smiles.  With a 3.08 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 25 ks in 26.1 innings, there is nothing to complain about.  Even with a scheduled start against the Mets on Tuesday, he will remain a fantasy favorite.  (His one bad start was against a good offensive club in the Phillies.  His three gems were against the opposite types of offensive clubs - the Astros and Rockies.)

More important to fantasy owners is the job security closer Armando Benitez has gained from Lincecum's success as a starting pitcher.  Recall at the start of the season, Benitez was threatened by the possibility of Lincecum being a shutdown, fireballing closer.

While Benitez is unchallenged by any reliever in the Giants' bullpen, is it time to revise the intentions of Giants GM Brian Sabean to have AAA reliever Brian Wilson close if Armando turns ineffective?
