With my AL-only draft just five days and four nights away, I am hoping to glean some additional information on who I could take with my third overall pick in the minor league draft. If Detroit's Andrew Miller is protected and Oakland's Travis Buck makes the team, I am left with no obvious top-tier player to take at #3. This assumes Devil Rays Evan Longoria and Reid Brignac are gone with the first two picks. I had considered reaching on Indians lefty reliever Tony Sipp, but he hasn't throw in a week or so due to a sore pitching elbow. Scratch that option.
There are a slew of pitchers to choose from - Nick Adenhart, Clay Buchholz, Luke Hochevar, Joba Chamberlain, and Jacob McGhee, but I'm not a big fan of taking pitchers at those levels so early. I wish there was a hitter to grab even one who seems to be destined to move to the 4th OF role very early in his career.
With that indecision around, I am looking forward to Mr. Callis's chat. Click
