Top 100 Prospect List

Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus released his Top 100 prospects yesterday. Fortunately for those who do not subscribe to BP, the list is available for free. (Here) He is also conducting a chat at 1 PM today. I believe it is open to non-BP subscribers to view but not submit questions. Click here to go to the chat.

With a ranking of this size, there are always disagreements. (Delmon Young should be No. 1! No, Alex Gordon should be!) What I like to look for are surprises. Given my designation of Mets RHP Phil Humber as a 2007 sleeper, I was pleasantly surprised to see him ranked so highly (#26). As surprising was fellow Rice attendee Jeff Neimann at #25.

Interestingly, many of the 2007 fantasy contributors are located in the lower couple thirds. Who is more important in 2007 #7 prospect Cameron Maybin or #49 Chris Iannetta. Or even #100 Elijah Dukes!

Either way, the release of this list means fantasy drafts are almost upon us! Early next week, Baseball America releases their list. At that time, there will be more than enough prospect lists to use for our fantasy drafts.
