Chris Volstad or Carlos Carrasco

I was recently asked which minor league player I would prefer given the choice between Marlins Low A right-hander Chris Volstad and Phillies Low A right-hander Carlos Carrasco.  Both players are ranked #1 in their organization by Baseball America.  Both players played in the South Atlantic League in 2006.

Given their age and level, either can fail to live-up to the expectations of fantasy players.  This means they never make The Show, do make The Show and stink or they never garner any hype in the minors to allow them to be dealt in fantasy trades.

What pushed me towards Carlos Carrasco was his higher strikeouts (159 vs 99) and his fewer hits allowed (103 vs 152) and Batting Average Against (.182 vs .275).  Given both played in the same league, I am not concerned about league effects.
