The Christmas edition of Fantasy Basketball UCONN Alumni find the top two the same as last week. However, Caron Butler and Rudy Gay have slightly increased their overall rankings. Butler moved up two spots to #7, and Mr. Gay rose three notches to #26.
More encouring, though, was the play of second-year center, Josh Boone. His overall ranking keeps him in the free agent pool thanks to a snails-think-he's-fast slow start. In the last week, he averaged 34.3 minutes per game. In that full-time role, he scored 11.7 and took down 8.3 boards per game. More noteworthy are the 5.3 offensive rebounds per game in that stretch.
In the seven games since he began contributing, he has a total of 32 offensive rebounds. Despite not playing meaningful minutes until seven games ago, Boone still leads the Nets in total offensive rebounds. That kind of performance should keep Boone as a meaningful fantasy option for the rest of the season.
