MLB Rumors: Red Sox In Lead For Johan Santana

Charlie Waters of the St Paul Pioneer Press claims the Red Sox are the leading contender to acquire two-time CY Young winner Johan Santana.  The package that placed them there does not include Jacoby Ellsbury or Clay Buchholz.

Without knowing who else is involved, the Red Sox would be the big winner here as they would be keeping their top two prospects.  The package that apparently leads is CF Coco Crisp, LHP Jon Lester, AAA SS Jed Lowrie and AAA RHP Justin Masterson.

Do you agree?

Update [2007-11-29 16:56:53 by Eric Hz]: Buster Olney of ESPN.com is reporting the 4th player, Justin Masterson in Waters' report, is in flux. Buster mentions 20-year-old RHP Michael Bowden as a possibility.
