In case you're wondering what happened to me, I just returned from a week and a half of much-needed vacation. A few days of beach, a few days of drinking, a few days of family, and a lot of days of a wife-mandated no-internet rule. I missed the internet. Hooray internet!
- This week's games featured the following quarterbacks: Chet Lemon, Brody Croyle, Derek Anderson, David Carr, Kurt Warner, Gus Frerotte, Brian Griese and Trent Dilfer. Hands up who saw that coming.
- The Texans' Kris Brown kicked five field goals yesterday, including two 54-yarders and a 57 yarder. That's the type of performance that single-handedly win you fantasy football games. Or single-handedly beat you. And there's no way to see it coming.
- Willis McGahee is 3rd in the league in rushing yards, but doesn't have a rushing touchdown yet. He's the only RB in the Top 20 without a rushing TD.
- LaDanian Tomlinson Bust Watch: LT now has 329 rushing yards for the season. Assuming Marshawn Lynch (307) and Marion Barber (306) pass him tonight, LT still won't be a Top 15 back.
- There's only one person happy about LT's trek towards the greatest FFL bust of all-time, and that's Larry Johnson. Johnson's line from yesterday: 9 rushes for 12 yards.
- Brett Favre is on pace to throw for 4,886 yards this season. That would be the second highest total in the history of the NFL.
- Back on Sept 19th I wrote the following:
With the Falcons next two games being in front of the home fans against two tough defenses (Carolina and Houston) it's only a matter of time before Petrino answers calls for Harrington's head. I'd be shocked if Leftwich isn't the starter for the Week 5 game at Tennessee.
I was off by 3 quarters, 4 minutes and 17 seconds. Not too bad.
- The Eagles had one of their best weeks of the season.
- I play in a league that counts individual punt and kick return yardage and touchdowns. I have Leon Washington in that league. The bye weeks have been great, but I have to find some way to get him playing time. (Note to Eric Mangini: So do you)
- My new favorite NFL player name: Ravens' TE Quinn Sypniewski. He had 4 catches for 28 yards yesterday. That was four times the production of Mark Clayton, by the way.
- Matt Hasselbeck had 116 pass yards and an interception. Shaun Alexander had 11 rushes for 25 yards. The leading receiver was somebody named Ben Obomanu (2 catches for 38 yards). This Seahawk dropping might have been the worst team performance of the season. If Seattle is looking for a new cheerleader (or mascot), this Swedish TV announcer would be appropriate right now.
- Mike Sellers? Really? I could do without yet another Redskins fantasy running back, thanks.
- The top five rushers for Week 5 (not counting the Monday Night game): Michael Turner, Kenton Keith, Ronnie Brown, Brian Leonard and Sammy Morris. Absolutely insane.
