2007 San Diego Padres Fantasy Values

What an offense! Mike Cameron and Adrian Gonzlaez are the only very good hitters. Brian Giles has been living on his Pittsburgh years, but he is no more valuable than the current version of Luis Gonzalez - a 15 HR hitter with 80 RBIs those as a result of regular playing time. Newly acquired 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff need not go too far to be the third best hitter on this team.

The pitching staff is much more encouraging. With the assistance of Petco Park, all the starters are worth at least $1. If Jake Peavy rebounds from last season, and I hold reservations based on the Padre's exploration of dealing him, then he is an elite pitcher. Maddux, Young and Hensley are high innings/low ratio starters that help anchor winning staffs. Throw-in HoF closer Trevor Hoffman and set-up men Scott Linebrink and Cla Meredith, and fantasy teams have a source of pitchers throughout the entire draft. Heck, rookie Andrew Brown may even be a nice pick-up for a drafted DL player!
