Any team with a chance to finish in the money and ground to lose in ERA & WHIP must stay away from Jason Hirsh.
His first two starts were bad and less bad. His third qualifies at an outright disaster. I would not be surprised to see him sent down to AAA despite the fact he has nothing left to prove there.
Nor would I be surprised to see him rot in the bullpen as the expanded rosters will allow the Astros that luxury.
That said, he's on my list as a potential sleeper in 2007. This year's trash always provides material for under-valued players.
Barring a Sowers-esque run, Hirsh's numbers will remain rotten for the remainder of the year. (And Sowers at his worst this year would qualify as Hirsh's best!)
