Ouch!

Minnesota's 2006 minor league pitching phenom, Matt Garza, took one on the chin last night in his major league debut - as did all those fantasy teams that got caught up in the hype that built around him as his success followed him from High A to the majors.

The Blue Jays lit him up for seven earned runs in 2.2 innings.  With only two strikeouts and two walks, Garza's peripherals weren't encouraging enough to look past the 7 runs either.

With only 45 or so games left in the season, teams in serious contention will want to avoid the risk inherent in unproven pitchers.

For those with their eye focused on 2007, Garza's performance, while very disappointing, shouldn't change his value much.
