Middle Relief

Yesterday, the Rocky Mountain News reported the Rockies were looking into acquiring Latroy Hawkins from the Orioles.

The sticking point was which AAA/ready for a cup o'major league joe hitter the Rox would give-up.

The O's want Ryan Shealy (and who can blame them?  They should throw in Conine and Milarr and Gomez and...)

The Rox prefer Jeff Baker.

Either player would maintian the market set by Wayne Krivsky's Reds when two 26-year-old 2008 free agents, Austin Kearns and Felipe Lopez, were used to acquire two middle relievers from Jim Bowden's Nationals.

And if the O's got Shealy, then that market will have gone into bubble territory!
