Detroit Closer

Todd Jones exploded in the 12th inning of yesterday's 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

After pitching a scoreless 11th, he gave up 4 earned runs in the 12th to notch his 5th loss of the season and inflate his ERA to a 2004 Shawn Chacon-esque 7.27.

In the same game, rookie fireballer Joel Zumaya tossed a scoreless 9th and 10th while striking out 5 of the 6 batters he retired.

Expect a change in closers to occur very soon in Detroit and do not be surprised to see it go unannounced.

From a fantasy perspective, grab Fernando Rodney and Joel Zumaya and trade Todd Jones.

I expect Jones to retain trade value at this point in the season because some team will be in need of saves and willing to take a chance on him sharing/keeping the job.
