We knew heading into the season that Ryan Klesko was going to need shoulder surgery at some point, but did anyone really think it would happen so early? According to published reports, he's still pondering the issue, but if he decides to undergo the knife he'll likely be sidelined for 2-4 months. Considering he's set to be a free agent at season's end, can you really see him putting it off much longer? Why would he risk the size of his next (and possibly final) contract by not having his shoulder fixed up sooner than later and getting a chance to prove he's healthy in the second half? From the San Diego Union-Tribune:
Klesko had an MRI exam on Tuesday.
?It showed enough in there for us to be concerned,? Bochy said. ?We could be facing surgery.?
Yikes. Expect an official announcement to be forthcoming, but if I were you I'd be checking out Adrian Gonzalez's availability right now.
