Here's some late-breaking closer news to take with you to your draft: Armando Benitez and Todd Jones will open the year on the disabled list:
Benitez, bothered by left knee bursitis, gave up four runs in the eighth inning of the Giants' 14-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics. San Francisco said he will start the season on the DL.
Fernando Rodney, who finished last season as Detroit's closer, will likely get the nod the first two weeks this year. Rookie Joel Zumaya, a starter his entire minor league career, is also a dark-horse candidate considering he throws 100-MPH gas, but his inexperience as a reliever is a knock against him.
For the Giants, Tim Worrell will likely serve as the interim closer. Tyler Walker had a turn at the role last year when Benitez was on the DL, but he didn't impress anyone with a 4.23 ERA and 1.53 WHIP.
