It's almost official: Martz is coming to Detroit

According to a report in the Detroit News, former Rams head coach Mike Martz is close to signing a one-year deal, $2 million deal to join Detroit's coaching staff as the offensive coordinator.

As I said before, I'm a big fan of the move: Martz is an innovative guru that adds instant respectability to a moribund offense. It's an intriguing deal in real-life and in fantasy -- his mere presence should boost the fantasy prospects of Roy Williams, Kevin Jones, Mike Williams and Charles Rogers, not to mention whatever quarterback is starting come Week 1.

UPDATE: Martz and the Lions have apparently broken off talks at the moment. And he's apparently looking for a three-year deal worth something like $4.5 million, not a one-year, $2 million deal.
