While washing the screens, I listend to MLB Live with Mark Gray on XM Radio. His guest was current Baltimore Orioles coach Rick Dempsey.
Dempsey offered two pieces of intel. The first was the four reliever signings were a prelude to a bigger trade at the Winter Meetings. What is involved is anyone's guess. Mark Gray didn't follow-up on the statement.
The second was the Orioles are bringing in guys to compete with the established players from last season. Specifically, he mentioned the Baez signing and that current closer Chris Ray now knows if he doesn't stay on top of his game, he can be replaced and relegated to setting-up for a while.
