Spring training Boxscores: Fantasy Notes

In his first Spring Training appearance since being named a reliever, the Yankees' Joba Chamberlain pitched a scoreless frame and struck out three.  Given Joba did not pitch that well preparing as a starter, is it possible he performs better in when he knows he only needs to go for an inning?

The San Francisco Giants' 2B Eugenio Velez stole his 11th base today.  There is little reason to believe he will not play a role with the in-need-of-excitement Giants.  Who knows?  Maybe he can be the disruptive force on the bases that Ol' Schoolers believe base stealers to be.

LA Angels presumptive SS, Erick Aybar, hit his 3rd HR of the Grapefruit League.  Combined with 3 SB and a .289 AVG, he has "won" the competition.

Going seven innings for the Angels, rookie Nick Adenhart made a case to be considered for the 5th starter's job.  He allowed just four hits and struck out six.  Granted, he did it against the Giants, but the Giants did start a possible Opening Day line-up.  If Moseley struggles, do not be surprised to see Adenhart broken in this year.

Juan Uribe is back in the White Sox line-up.  Fortunately for them because 2B Danny Richar will be out 4-6 weeks with a cracked rib.

speaking of
opening day lineups, Torre sent out a lineup as follows today:

Furcal
Ethier
Martin
Jones
Kemp
Loney
Hu
Dewitt

and they responded with 8 runs, 10 hits, with Furcal collecting 4 hits including a HR, Kemp with a 3 run ding dong, and oh yeah-Etier with 2 more hits. Pierre came off the bench with a walk and a run scored.
Has Torre seen the light???

Wow
That is quite the home-grown line-up.  I can't imagine a large-market team like the Dodgers not trying to "improve" it via free agency though

Improve
If the Dodgers' ended the season with that line-up, the Brass may feel the need to spend big on a bat

+1
I think Joe knows what the right call is, but may start the season with Pierre in LF....with a short leash. He recently met with all 4 Ofers, telling them he has a difficult decision to make....he just wants to see more of Ethier and Kemp.
