Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Super Bowl XLII: What. A. Game.

Earlier I had said that if the Giants won the Super Bowl, Eli Manning would be hyped into being the #4 fantasy QB taken in 2008.

They did, and he will.  But now I wonder how much of it is hype.  Wow, what a performance.

Now it looks like David Tyree will be a regular part of fantasy football drafts this fall.

Anyone who put down some money on David Tyree winning the MVP at 80/1 came very close to cashing in big.

Eli
He threw into double and triple coverage enough to make me stay away from him.  And what is up with missing Burress on the final drive when he was wide open?

Did I speak too flippantly?
dan vermont: how does eli's superbowl effect his fantasy value? has he turned a corner and can he be a top 5 qb next year

Scott Engel: (2:59 PM ET ) I would not say top five yet, as he still has to show he can do it over a full season before I consider him elite. But he certainly did enough in the playoffs to crack my top 10 for next year for sure

Scott Engel: (3:02 PM ET ) My top 10 QBs for 2008 - Brady, Peyton, Brees, Romo, Palmer, Hasselbeck, Roethlisberger, Eli, Garrard, McNabb

No, you did not speak flippantly
And this is why I do not put much stock into what Engel has to say.  QB's I value more than Eli:

Bulger
Farve/A. Rodgers
Warner/ Lienart
M. Schaub
and even Kitna for next yr only.

yes!
This upcoming Saturday.  They are going to be playing at the Pageant in St. Louis.  Looking forward to it!  Can you make it out to St. Louis?  All kiddiing aside, if you are ever in St. Louis area, I can get you some great ballgame tickets.  I am in the building business and as an owner's rep, I turn down more ballgame tickets than you can imagine...good ones too.  Typically when I go to a game, I sit somewhere in the first 20 rows on either the 1b or 3b line.

tyree? ha
David tyree has no chance of being drafted in any fantasy league,Freddy mitchell made a big catch to get the eagles to the SB,where is he?  as for Manning,he's a good #2 qb on your team, what exactly did he show you in the playoffs that changes his value any from the regular season fantasy wise? Giants are a run 1st team and will always be in which makes manning on a good day a 2 td type fantasy qb max,i think he will avg about 1 1/2 tds a game with about 200 yards over a 16 games season,qb's like him are easily found on the waiver wire throughout the year in 8-10 team leagues, could see qb's like jason campbell and Rivers having same type year and those guys will go very late

Don't underestimate the NY hype
I didn't say that Eli and Tyree deserved to be drafted that high, I said they WILL be.

You watch.  Somebody will take Eli as a top five QB in a league you're in.  People will also spend a pick on Steve Smith and on David Tyree.

The offseason will be flooded with stories on how Eli has finally "developed" and "is ready to explode".

Come on, we're seeing it already and it's only been 48 hours.
