2007 Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers Fantasy Values

The Astros have little in the ways of fantasy depth. Of their starting eight, C Brad Ausmus is the epitome of horrible - high ABs, low AVG, low HR/RBI/SB. He should avoided. SS Adam Everett is damn close, but he has stolen double-digit bases in the past and that keeps him in the usable category. With the trade of CF Willy Tavares, Chris Burke moves to CF and Jason Lane becomes the 4th OF. No one else on the bench is worth dispensing mental effort on.

The Brewers have a couple players who are on the verge of being $30+ players. One needs to boost his HRs and AVG just a bit and the other needs to demonstrate his 35 HRs were not a fluke. However, as a SS-eligible, I can see him easily crossing the $30 barrier in deep NL-only keepers leagues. OF Corey Hart could be a $30 player if he lives up to his minor league HR/SB numbers.

Burke?
Is he worth that much at this point? I like him, but that seems a bit high. I will be surprised if he goes that high in one of the expert league draft.

I am a BIG fan of Cory Hart. If he gets 500 abs. Numbers like this are not out of the questions

Burke
I debated putting him a level lower, but the power/speed combo over 500 ABs combined with the 2B-eligibility pushed me over the edge. In an NL-only, I would have no problems seeing Burke go in the high teens/low 20s. In a mixed league, he's a great value pick-up after the other 20/20s go off the board.

the combo and the magic word "potential" surely take him to the high teens...if he can get to 500 abs, he will put up nice nubers, especially in the juice box which has allowed biggio to put up servicable numbers the last three years.

btw, lance scott should be luke (my son's name, i notice stuff like that) and for the brew crew, their big and getting bigger first bagger is prince, not cecil ( who is far bigger) :)

Burke
Personally, I'd bid Burke to the low 20s if I could and hope he grew into the salary. However, in non-keeper leagues and in mixed ones, that aggressive bidding doesn't have enough time to bear fruit.
