It's been about 7 or 8 years since my last fantasy football championship, and what a season we had. I was partners in a league at work, and it was a big money league. Like BIG money. When all was said and done, my partner and I won around $3,500. This league paid $100 per week to the team with the highest score, and if I remember correctly, we had the highest score in the league the last 6 or 7 weeks in a row.

How did we manage that, you ask? Well, my partner and I decided on draft day to wait to draft a quarterback till the later rounds, and we were blessed with the #4 or 5 pick in the draft, and that pick landed us one Shaun Alexander. We also drafted Tiki Barber and in the 5th round, we drafted Chiefs running back Larry Johnson. These three running backs carried our team to the championship as they were 1-2-3 in rushing yards that season.

Other owners made offers to us for Johnson or Barber, but we felt we were better off with one of them on our bench than trying to improve our quarterback or wide receiver positions.

Hopefully, you can relax this afternoon and watch football. There are many great matchups that will be worth watching and if you have a deeper interest because of a player or players you need to do well, than that's even better. The one good thing about the kicker and defense positions on your fantasy team is that they don't get rested or benched by their coaches. Of course, their performance can be affected for the good or bad by the decisions their coaches make but for the most part we know what we're going to get.
