Fantasy Hockey 2011: Top 30 Rankings for Goalies
WHAM! A double helping of fantasy hockey goodness (relatively speaking, whether you like my rankings or not) coming at you! Here's the top 30 rankings for the goalies of 2011-12 season. Stats are based on Wins, Goals Against Average, and Save Percentage. And no I am not going to bother with Shutouts, it's too unpredictable. Enjoy!
1) Henrik Lundqvist, Rangers - Love me some consistency. Guy is as rock solid as they come from start to finish and you can't ask much more for your #1 goalie.
2) Roberto Luongo, Canucks - I am concerned about the workload and his mileage coming into this season. He's still elite but it's something to consider.
3) Pekka Rinne, Predators - He won't get you elite wins but he'll get you elite averages. Love Rinne this year.
4) Tomas Vokoun, Capitals - Going from a hopeless cause in Florida to a playoff contender is a nice upgrade for Vokoun. Likely will upgrade in every category so you should be happy as much as he is this season.
5) Tim Thomas, Bruins - Nice bounce back season for Thomas and won the Stanley Cup to boot. Much like Rinne, he got a great but not elite amount of wins but his averages are a dream.

Fantasy Hockey 2011: Top 40 Rankings for Defensemen 21-40
We continue with the top 40 defensemen rankings for 2011-12 fantasy hockey season with rankings 21-40. The defenseman rankings for 1-20 is here. Stats used are goals, assists, +/-, power play points, penalty minutes and shots on goal.
Ryan Whitney, Oilers - He'll do just fine after having an ankle knock out his season. Moving up the charts can be a
P.K. Subban, Montreal Great points, lots of penalty minutes and shots on goal. He makes for a great D3 with some definite room for growth in the scoring department.
Mark Giordano, Flames - He still has some upside, especially compared to Subban but his numbers have been going the right direction the past three years and I like is overall contribution.
John-Michael Liles, Maple Leafs - I think being paired with Phanuef will help Liles out in keep his offensive contributions go with his new team.
Brent Seabrook, Blackhawks - Production should go the same as last year and perhaps alittle more now that he'll likely pair up with Duncan Keith. As a side note, I can't say his last name without thinking of Seabear. I dunno.

Fantasy Hockey 2011: Top 40 Rankings for Defenseman 1-20
Many apologies for the late article but when work, back to school, and other events go on at the same time for a whole week, you find out you lose out on time and sleep. Precious sleeeeeeep. *ahem* Sorry. Anyhoo, here are my top 40 fantasy hockey rankings for defenseman from number 1-20. Stats used are goals, assists, +/-, power play points, penalty minutes and shots on goal. Enjoy!
1) Dustin Byfuglien, Jets - He's about as complete package as you're going to get for your defenseman. Points, penalty minutes, shots on goal and power play opportunities make him the clear choice above others.
2) Lubomir Visnovsky, Ducks - The very definition of an offensive defenseman, he finally puts up a complete season and had a career season with Anaheim. He'll likely still carry his injury prone nature into this season so be mindful of that when drafting him. He does a decent amount of shots and gets some penalties but he's sure to produce on the score sheet for your team when he's healthy.
3) Keith Yandle, Coyotes - Every season he's played for Phoenix, he's bettered himself in almost every way. Still only 25 and with more room for growth, it's possible we're going to see this kind of production from him for years to come. Good penalty minutes and shots on goal but lots of points to help boost your scoring chances from your defenseman.
4) Zdeno Chara, Bruins - Much like Byfuglien, he's a complete player that will contribute in points, penalty minutes, shots on goal but since Boston is better overall team, it's safe to say that his +/- will be quite high.
5) Kris Letang, Penguins - Plenty of points and the fact that he puts up gobs of penalty minutes and shots on goal makes him a great choice as the top defenseman on the Penguins and your team. He's also just 24 years old so he's still some room for growth, which means he could shoot up the ranks if he keeps on doing the same thing or more like he did last year.
6) Shea Weber, Predators - Pretty stable as a one of the better defenseman in fantasy hockey for the last three years, expect more of the same great results from Weber this year with great points, good shots on goal and a decent helping of penalty minutes.

Fantasy Hockey 2011: Top 80 Rankings for Forwards 41-80
We finalize the Forward rankings with the last 40 positions in this article. For the Forward Rankings 1-20, go here. For the Forward Rankings 21-40, go here. I will not be writing player-by player analysis this time since we're getting close to reserve forward territory and the difference between each player is marginal at best. However, if you are interested in a particular player I've ranked here, please say so in the comments and I'll give my take on him. Stats used are Goals, Assists, Plus/Minus, Penalty Minutes, Power Play Points and Shots on Goal. Enjoy!

42) Andy McDonald, Blues
44) David Krejci, Bruins
45) Tomas Plekanec, Canadians

Fantasy Hockey 2011: Top 80 Rankings for Forwards 21-40
We continue the rankings with 21-40. The ranks for positions 1-20 can be found here. Again, the stats used are Goals, Assists, Plus/Minus, Penalty Minutes, Power Play Points and Shots On Goal.
21) Ryan Getzlaf, Ducks - Reader transmogrifier rightly pointed out why Getzlaf wasn't in the top 20. I understand that he's been a top producer at center for a couple of seasons and his point per game rate is over one but I think the past two injury shortened seasons will deflate his value. Playing between Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry will make for an awesome year and he makes a great low C1/high C2 with enough upside to boost himself among the best so long as health falls on his favor.
22) Jeff Carter, Blue Jackets - Going from the Flyers to the Blue Jackets is a clear downgrade in overall team depth but Carter will be paired up with their top scorer in Nash. His +/- will drop but I think the points and shots on goal will still be there so long as a chemistry develops between them.
23) Rick Nash, Blue Jackets - For too long, he's not had the a real center to work with and relieve some of the offensive pressure put on him to score goals. However, with Carter arriving and likely pairing up with him, Nash will get a boost in overall offensive production this coming season.

Fantasy Hockey 2011: Top 80 Rankings for Forwards 1-20
Yeah I know, it's early to be thinking about fantasy hockey. Especially since fantasy sports' honey just got released from a lockout. Heck, fantasy hockey hasn't even started sign-ups! (If a site has, give me a jingle). But there's nothing wrong with having alittle discourse over rankings. I've broken the rankings up by three sections: Forwards, Defensemen and Goalies. Stats used are Goals, Assists, Plus/Minus, Penalty Minutes, Power Play Points and Shots On Goal. Without further ado, here are the Forward rankings for # 1-20:
1) Steven Stamkos, Lightning - Want to know why I like him so much? Lots of shots on goal for a Center, which means more opportunities for Goals. He led all Centers with Goals last year. His complete game contribution is already making comparisons to Sid the Kid but the best part of all about Stamkos is that is ONLY 21 years old. Even with another extremely successful season with the Lightning, there's still room for growth from him.
2) Alex Ovechkin, Capitals - You know why you're drafting Ovechkin: goals, points, shots on goal and more goals. Oh and goals. The guy just sweats talent and has been one of the best player in the game. Call last season what you will but I am calling it a fluke. No injuries to report last season and his shots on goal ridiculously high, it's hard to imagine why he didn't produce up to potential. Either he was mired in a funk or was incredibly unlucky. Either way, I have no problem taking him #2 this year and if he drops to my lap at any point below #2 overall, run, don't walk, to draft him.
3) Daniel Sedin, Canucks - What's not to like about the barely younger brother of the Sedin duo? Much like Stamkos, you're drafting him for his complete contribution to your team. He led the NHL with 104 points and led all registered Left Wingers with 41 goals and 64 assists with a good amount of shots on goal as icing on the cake. If you don't manage to get Ovechkin as your #1 Winger, getting Daniel is a great consolation prize.
