2011 Fantasy Football-Start'em/Sit'em

Fantasy Football Week 16 Sprint Active/Inactive Update

Christmas came early for most of us that are reading this today. Or maybe it's a belated Happy Festivus or a nice gift on the fifth night of Hanukkah. Whatever you're celebrating, I want to wish you happy holidays! Well, it's Championship Saturday and we have a full slate of football all day with some potentially potent point production (hopefully you're not standing next to Sylvester the cat reading that aloud). We have some interesting game-time calls that will all be covered in this edition. Don't forget you can ask me anything you want about your lineup for a second opinion or a potential way to attack your game-time jam. My Twitter feed @MikeSGallagher will be buzzing all day with instant analysis and updates.

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs

Raiders

Official Inactives: RB Darren McFadden, QB Jason Campbell, WR Jacoby Ford, OL Bruce Campbell, DT John Henderson, RB Taiwan Jones, S Michael Huff

Analysis: Run DMC is dealing with his lisfranc injury for another week and Michael Bush will get some heavy work against a 24th-ranked run D of KC. Bush should be in all lineups despite his injured shoulder.Jacoby Ford is ruled out, so that makes Darrius Heyward-Bey and Denarius Moore intriguing plays in some formats. DHB gets the edge for his big 155-yard gem last week. They both should see a mix of Brandon Flowers in coverage. Carson Palmer isn't that great of a play since the Raiders figure to run a lot.

UPDATE: Taiwan Jones is also out, so expect to see a lot out of Michael Bush today.

Chiefs

Official Inactives: S Jon McGraw, QB Tyler Palko, TE Jake O'Connell, WR Jerheme Urban, OL David Mims, DE Jerrell Powe, DE Brandon Blair

Analysis: The Chiefs will have Kyle "Franchise" Orton at the helm again after the win over Green Bay. Orton injects life back into Dwayne Bowe's value and he's a low-end WR2 against the 23rd-ranked Oakland pass D. The Chiefs are running a three-headed monster at tailback, so starting any of them seems like a huge roll of the dice in even 16-team leagues.

UPDATE: The Chiefs have everything in place, but of course Bowe is the only guy worth starting.

Fantasy Football Week 16 Start' Em Sit 'Em

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - DECEMBER 18: Donald Brown #31 of the Indianapolis Colts runs through the arm tackle of Dave Ball #98 of the Tennessee Titans during their game at Lucas Oil Stadium on December 18, 2011 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tim Tebow QB – Maybe this is obvious, but Tebow has a matchup that a only takes place during the holiday season. Buffalo has the 29th ranked rushing defense in the league, so we can expect Tebow to lead the Broncos to victory on the ground. I understand that he is a QB, but there is no way John Fox doesn’t design at the minimum five run plays for Tebow against this defense. Not only are the Bills awful against the run, but Tebow should torch them through the air as the Bills are last in the league with 21 sacks so you can expect him to pick apart this Buffalo secondary. Like any QB in the league, when you have to set your feet you can do damage and with the emergence of Demariyus Thomas, Tebow has a legitimate number one weapon. We are looking at 20 plus fantasy points from a QB that wasn’t drafted to start the year.

Donald Brown RB – Many believe that if you don’t arrive by the third year, you are likely to be a bust. Brown is changing that late in the season as he’s posted double digit fantasy points in three of the last four weeks. Brown has become the goal line back scoring touchdowns and for the first time since 2009 Indianapolis has established a run game. There are many skeptics of Brown but his 5.1 YPC is impressive and while the Texans defense is great against the run, Brown has become the most integral part of the Colts offense. In 2009 Brown was suppose to be the lead back for the Peyton Manning led Colts but instead he can be the running back that gets you over the top in your fantasy championship.

Fantasy Football Week 15 Sprint Active/Inactive Update

We've already had two games down this week, so owners should have an idea where they stand this week. If you went against Tony Romo or Roddy White (I really hope it's not both), then you know you have to shoot for the moon and play a high-upside guy for some of your debatable decisions. On the flip side, if you had one of those guys, then playing the safe guy is probably the prudent move. Throughout this week's edition you'll see the word "upside" quite a bit to possibly help you in your decision. Don't forget you can ask me about your lineup decision on Twitter. You can give me a list of guys you're considering and I'll let you know which guys I feel are the safest and which has the highest upside. Be sure to specify.

Carolina Panthers at Houston Texans

Panthers

Official Inactives: QB Jimmy Clausen, K Adi Kunalic, WR Seyi Ajirotutu, CB Darius Butler, WR Darvin Adams, LB Kion Wilson, DE Eric Norwood.

Analysis: The Panthers are fairly healthy at this point with Greg Olsen (back) getting upgraded to probable on Friday. It'll be tough to start him or his tight-end partner Jeremy Shockey in this matchup. Cam Newton gets one of his toughest tests on Sunday against the elite Texan D. He's still a top-seven QB for this week though. DeAngelo and Jonathan Stewart are nothing more than flex guys. Steve Smith might be able to hit J. Joseph deep and he needs to be in all lineups.

UPDATE: Jimmy Clausen is INACTIVE. Make sure he's on your bench in your 100-team league.

Texans

Official Inactives: QB Jeff Garcia,CB Sherrick McManis, G Mike Brisiel, T Andrew Gardner, WR Andre Johnson, TE Garrett Graham, DE Tim Bulman

Analysis: Andre will not play in this game and is likely going to be a game-time call for Week 16 as well. His owners shouldn't cut him unless they absolutely have to make a move for this week. Joel Dreessen is also questionable with a knee injury. If he doesn't go, consider Owen Daniels strong TE1. The Texans will be using a heavy dose of Arian Foster and he's our top back this week. Ben Tate is probably worth starting over DeAngelo or J-Stew.

UPDATE: If you really need help at WR, I'd go with Jacoby Jones (although I'd rather have Jerome Simpson and about 50 others)

Fantasy Football Week 15 Start' Em Sit 'Em

Start Em

TJ Yates QB – With Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Moore questionable for Sunday a lot people are running with their heads off looking for a QB. While this isn’t the ideal situation to be in, when looking around for available quarterbacks the name that appears to be the safest is TJ Yates. Yates, unlike Carson Palmer, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Rex Grossman isn’t an interception machine who could do more damage than good. Also, Yates is playing against a Carolina defense that has scored double digit points once this season. After watching him lead a game winning drive in Cincinnati, I bet the coaching staff in Houston was impressed and will let the rookie air it out. Far from sexy, if you’re in a QB conundrum go with the QB who ended the Bengals playoff chances.

Felix Jones RB – To be honest, I am not the biggest Jones fan. I thought he was vastly overrated coming into the season and his play on the field early on as well as an injury out him to a third down role where truly belongs. But for running backs most of the time it’s not about how talented the guy is but the opportunity and the opponent. On Saturday night Jones gets a shot at the Buccaneers run defense that has given up the most fantasy points to running backs this season. Jones should see anywhere from 20-25 through the air and on the ground in what should be a high scoring affair.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Sprint Active/Inactive Update

TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW TIM TEBOW

All eyes on All Day for Sunday morning. AD headlines the group of game-time decisions as well as Jeremy Maclin also being downgraded on Saturday morning. This week's edition will go over all the injury concerns you should know before setting your lineup. There will be updates on every game about 75 minutes before it kicks off. Don't forget to follow me on Twitter @MikeSGallagher for updates all day Sunday!

Let's get to it:

WEATHER UPDATE: There is a 35 percent chance of thunderstorms in Miami (plus 22 MPH wind), Jacksonville expects to be windy with gusts around 25 MPH and Green Bay is a bit breezy with 15 MPH. That's it. Weather shouldn't be much of a factor in setting your lineup.

Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets

Chiefs

Official Inactives: DL Jerrell Powell S Donald Washington TE Jake O'Connell LB Jeremy Horne OL David Mims QB Kyle Orton DE Brandon Blair

Analysis: The Chiefs have to be one of the worst fantasy offenses along with Cleveland and Chicago right now. Dexter McCluster was a blip on the radar screen last week with his Hail Mary catch. He's still extremely tough to start with the chances of Todd Haley possibly leaning on Thomas Jones a bit against his old team. Dwayne Bowe should be on Revis Island for most of the game and is no more than a WR3 this week.

UPDATE: The Chiefs will need to get get their running game going in this one, but still, there's no reason to risky any Chief RB. Mike Devito and Kendrick Ellis being out does help (if you really want to play them).

Jets

Official Inactives: QB Kevin O'Connell, WR Erron Riley, RB Joe McKnight, CB Ellis Lankster, DE Mike DeVito, T Austin Howard, DE Kenrick Ellis

Analysis: Joe McKnight is questionable with an elbow injury and LaDainian Tomlinson should pick up most of the third-down work. The Chiefs are coming off a big defensive win in Chicago, but Shonn Greene and Santonio Holmes are good to go for this one. Especially Greene because the Jets will probably work out the kinks in their running game.

UPDATE: McKnight is OUT. This makes LT a decent guy to play since the Jets are a good bet to run the ball over 35 times as a team.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Start'em Sit'em

Note: this article was written by Evan Levine

Start Em

Matt Moore QB - Apparently I was a year late on Moore, because in 2010 I predicted he would lead the Panthers to the Super Bowl. Better late than never, the Dolphins are riding high behind their new signal caller, while giving life to a team that was in the cellar dweller. He will never be an elite QB or even second tier, but the offense has been great over the past five weeks as they have established a running game behind Reggie Bush Many would say Moore didn't play well vs. Oakland but the truth is Miami was up so he wasn't asked to throw the ball as he only attempted 25 passes. Against Philadelphia a defense that has combined for negative five points in their last two games expect Moore to flourish in what should be an easy Miami victory.

Ahmad Bradshaw RB - In his first game back from injury Bradshaw didn't deliver. On 11 carries he ran for 38 yards, and it was obvious that the Giants were easing him in. This week with the division on the line against the Cowboys, I expect Bradshaw to be closer to 20 carries then 10. He's clearly the best running back in New York and even Brandon Jacobs owners know that Jacobs is better with limited touches as opposed to carrying the workload. Led by Eli Manning Big Blue likes to air it out but the games they have won is when they pound the ball. The Giants were 5-2 with a healthy Brahshaw in the lineup so expect for him to lead the way if the Giants are victorious on Sunday.

Fantasy Football Preview: Eagles at Seahawks

Welcome back to another edition of Fantasy Football Preview. This is our fourth installment and it should be a good night for fantasy action. It's not Thanksgiving, but Thursday Night Football has a lot of topics worth discussing and we'll break it down from several angles. The Eagles are coming in extremely banged up while Seattle just put their most talented receiver on IR. Of course this game has two must-start backs this week and provides an interesting option at QB with Vince Young getting the start. The receiving options in this game aren't your household names and really only deep league owners should count on these guys with so many injuries concerns on the horizon for Sunday (excluding DeSean Jackson). We'll get you familiarized with these guys and let you know which guys could take advantage of matchups in this game.

Analysis of every relevant player after the jump:
