FanDuel/SB Nation $2,000,000 Fantasy Football League: Week 8
After the GPP lineup I provided last week didn't cash out, I felt as though I should give a different strategy a try. I want to find a contrarian stack, along with a couple other low ownership guys, and then go with a few players who should be among the highest owned. While going for some guys who will be high owned may cap my potential, I think the contrarian picks I am making may be enough to differentiate me among the other entries.
Russell Wilson $7,800 and Jimmy Graham $6,100:
As always, starting off with my stack for the week. I doubt that this stack gets much run with how poorly Graham, and to an extent, Wilson have played this year. The Cowboys defense has either been really good at defending QB's, or horrible. If we look at the QB's they stopped, it was Eli Manning twice and Sam Bradford once. The QB's who lit them up are Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady. I think Wilson belongs in that latter group. The Cowboys have done a great job at holding opposing Tight Ends to practically nothing, but the only Tight End they have played who is even remotely decent was Rob Gronkowski. I believe that the Seahawks will start to run more plays to get Graham the ball. Low ownership fueling this pick, and some wishful thinking on the part of the Seahawks gameplan.
Antonio Andrews $5,300:
The next low-ownership guy I am going with this week. While the Titans don't instil much confidence in me, this matchup is shaping up to be very good. We just saw Lamar Miller torch the Texans defense. Andrews isn't nearly as talented as Miller is I will admit that, but Miller also did all of his production in essentially one quarter. Andrews will have four quarters to get his production, and word is that the Titans are going to try and find ways to get him the ball more often in the coming weeks.
Josh Lambo $4,500 and St. Louis Rams Defense $5,100:
Josh Lambo seems like a staple of my teams every week. He will give me what I expect, and against the Ravens, he may have plenty of opportunities for some field goals. The Rams defense will be facing Colin Kaepernick and the mess that is the 49ers. There should be a few turnovers happening in this game, and I would be shocked if the 49ers go out and score more than 14 points here. The Rams defense looks great lately, and will get the sacks along with the turnovers.
Todd Gurley $8,100:
Time to get to my high-ownership picks for this Sunday. Todd Gurley has been one of, if not the best back over his last three games. The only other guy who has been in the same class as him is Devonta Freeman. The good news is that Gurley costs a full $1,000 less than Freeman. Now let's factor in a great matchup this week, and I am playing Gurley with absolute confidence.
Antonio Brown $8,400; Keenan Allen $8,000; Stefon Diggs $6,700
All three of these guys I went into detail on in my cash game picks article. I feel as though all three can put up some great games, with Brown and Allen especially going for some truly amazing numbers. Brown has Big Ben back, and Rivers has been throwing the ball almost every play it seems like. Diggs was needed here to make the cap work, and he has a great chance to go for at least 100 yards and 1 TD. All three guys will be high owned, but it with the contrarian picks listed before, I think that the great numbers these WR's will get will be a great compliment to those low-ownership players.
