Week 6 is in the books, with Week 7 games approaching, fantasy owners will have to be active on the waiver wire with injuries and bye weeks playing a factor now. When looking at the waiver wire, fantasy owners must try and find the best value available. The waiver wire can make or break someone's season, making it crucial to find fantasy football sleeper plays. This list of sleepers will be based off of matchup and projected game plan for week 7 of the NFL season.
Blake Bortles- Bortles will continue to be on my list until he's picked up in every fantasy league. With 7 touchdowns and over 600 yards passing in the past two games, Bortles is proving to be an elite quarterback option in fantasy football. Yes, he has had 4 interceptions the past two games, but with all the yards and touchdowns he is racking up, does it really matter? Bortles will be traveling to London this week to face the Buffalo Bills who are ranked 23rd against the pass this season. He will look to go to his three main weapons in Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, and Julius Thomas. For those of you that have Peyton Manning at quarterback who is on a bye week, Bortles is worth a spot on your roster if Peyton continues to struggle past the bye.
Melvin Gordon- Not much of a sleeper heading into this season, Melvin has had a disappointing rookie year so far. But with a matchup against the Oakland Raiders, I think this will be the week we finally see a huge week from the 1st round pick out of Wisconsin. The Chargers are expected to take a lead early on which will lead to opportunities for Melvin during garbage time. The Chargers have looked sloppy early on this season, but I expect them to get it going this week as they look to catch the Broncos in the AFC West. Melvin Gordon will be an important piece why the Chargers make a run.
Stefon Diggs- Emerging as Teddy Bridgewater's go to receiver, Diggs has been tearing up secondaries the past two games. With a stat-line of 7/129/9 targets against the Chiefs and 6/87/10 targets against an elite Broncos defense, Diggs should be owned if he's still available on waivers. He is starting to see a solid amount of targets which is leading to his yards and catches, if Diggs can get into the end zone, he may be one of the best waiver wire pickups of the season. He gets a nice matchup to do so against a Lions defense that has allowed 10 touchdown passes on the season.
Eric Ebron- Expected to return after missing the past few games, Ebron had a great start to the season. Before getting injured, Ebron was top 10 for tight ends in points and will look to keep that going against the Vikings who are ranked 14th agains the pass. Stafford will look to stay hot as well and looking Eric's way is in Stafford's best interest. Eric is a solid starting tight end moving forward in the season as well for those of you who struggle week to week to find a consistent tight end. There was a reason why the former UNC Tarheel was drafted in the first round last year. Give him a shot on your roster.
