I am in a 10 team Head-to-Head Keeper Points League. We get 2 guaranteed keepers and 2 Minor league spots that can be occupied by any active/non-active player. Our league has specific outfield slots (RF, CF, LF).
Give: Bryce Harper (Minor), LF
Get: Joey Votto, 1B
Currently my keepers are Miguel Cabrera (1B) and Ryan Braun (LF, RF) and my minors are Bryce Harper (LF) and Oscar Taveras. My plan has been to keep Harper as a Minor for however long it took to get to my current keeper value, or someone on my current roster goes on the DL for the season and there is nothing available on the waiver wire. Harper is not there yet and I imagine it will still be 2-3 years.
My RF and U spot is Alex Rios and Jay Bruce. My 1B is Edwin Encarnacion, and Cabrera will lose 3B next year. Overall I am not concerned with my offensive production but I am always looking to improve.
So if I trade Harper for Votto, Votto will become my U and then that will leave Bruce or Rios out on my bench. I have to imagine someone before the All-Star break will trade for 1 (I will be pushing Rios) for at least a top 40-50 SP.
To help sweeten the deal I am going to try and convince him to trade his Tulo (SS) for my Ian Desmond (SS). If that happens then I can not imagine how I could not trade Harper for Votto.
Unfortunately it is a pretty convoluted story. Anyone have any opinions they would like to share to try and help my decision process?
