Stock Up
Not many risers in this edition. I try not to read too much in to Spring Training results so there isn't much a pitcher can do to improve his stock besides securing a spot in the rotation. Expect more risers towards the end of ST when rotations are finalized.
Stock Down
- Matt Garza's injury has hurt his ranking quite a bit. He could miss all of April and I think this really hurts his chances of being dealt to a competitor, which is where he had some hidden value in my opinion.
- Phil Hughes is still questionable for Opening Day. If he can get on a throwing schedule soon and set him up to not miss his spot in the rotation, he could be bumped up a bit in the next update. The loss of Granderson and Teixeira take away some marginal value as well since he won't have as potent an offense supporting him for the first month or so.
- Martin Perez is out until probably mid-May so he finds himself off the new rankings list. I'm not sure any of his potential replacements have a spot on this list, but Justin Grimm could make a case if he gets the job.
