I've read and heard plenty about handcuffing closers with setup guys. I've seen guys like Jansen and Pestano go for almost as much as their respective incumbent closers in auctions. Set-up guys have value. I get that.
What about handcuffing other positions?
I've got Allen Craig ($7) as a keeper in an NL-only auction, keeper league. Lots of potential, lots of injury risk. Do I bid on StL 1B at-bats and bid on his back-up? Will it be Adams or Carpenter? What are they worth? Or, just look for 1B ABs on another team? I've got the bench spots to stash them all season if need be.
