I'm in a 12 team keeper mixed league 5 x 5 roto league. Each team can keep up to 8 players - no limit on how long you can keep players. Teams that keep less than 8 players get to draft players in a preliminary round to get to 8 before the full draft begins. We play C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 5 OFs, CI, MI & 8 pitchers. My team has struggled for the last few years and I need some help to turn things around. I want to compete in 2013 while building a solid base for future years. My best players are.....

Joey Votto, Jason Heyward, Brandon Phillips, Gio Gonzalez, Jordan Zimmerman, Kris Medlen, Jose Altuve, Jesus Montero, Brett Gardner

My thinking right now is to keep 6 - Votto, Heyward, Phillips, Gio, Zimm & Medlen and take my chances on getting two better players in the prelim rounds of the draft. Or should I go with just five by letting Medlen go? Any other thoughts?
