EPL Week 15 Fantasy Preview

Mike Hewitt

A quick turnaround this week after week 14 just ended on Tuesday. Let's take a look at who to sit and who to start

If you had Luis Suarez week 14 then congratulations! Suarez was absolutely magnificent scoring 4 goals and added an assist in Liverpool's 5-1 thrashing of Norwich. Suarez netted a hat trick in the first 35 minutes of the match. Eden Hazard also had himself a fantastic game in a thrilling match against Sunderland. Hazard had his best match of his Chelsea career and if he can continue this form, watch out! Hazard scored twice and had an assist in Chelsea's 4-3 victory.

Notable alerts: Wayne Rooney will not be available for United's match. He picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in Manchester United's 1-0 loss to Everton and will therefore be suspended for one match. This could end up being a big blow for United as Rooney has been in blistering form, and Robin Van Persie still recovering from an injury, his status unclear for the weekend. If RVP can't go, David Moyes will have to rely heavily on Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez against a very in-form Newcastle side.

Jan Vertonghen picked up an ankle injury in Tottenham's match against Fulham during the week and will miss this weekend's match against Sunderland.

Leighton Baines is still out with a toe injury. His replacement, Bryan Oviedo, scored the winning goal against Manchester United and now has two goals in two straight matches.

Daniel Sturridge will likely miss another game with an ankle injury. Some reports indicate he could be sidelined for two months.

Darren Bent will be unavailable for selection this week against Aston Villa. Bent is on loan to Fulham from Aston Villa and the rules stipulate a player on loan, cannot play against his parent team.

Ravel Morrison will also be suspended due to accumulating five yellow cards.

GOALKEEPERS

Asmir Begovic - He is the 3rd best fantasy goalkeeper and has kept five clean sheets so far this season. He won't be getting his sixth clean sheet this weekend as he has to face a Chelsea side full of goals. (VERDICT: BENCH)

Simon Mignolet - He has not kept a clean sheet since November 9th against Fulham. It's been tough for Liverpool to keep clean sheets after starting the season with three straight. They face a struggling West Ham side this weekend, I like Mignolet's chances here. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Tim Howard - Two straight clean sheets and a total of eight on the season, Howard is the #1 fantasy goalkeeper with 75 points. He goes up against Arsenal and Szczesny who is trailing Howard by 6 fantasy points in 2nd place amongst goalkeepers. This could be the match of the week and I expect goals from both teams. (VERDICT: BENCH)

Brad Guzan - Guzan is enjoying a solid season in net for Aston Villa. He is currently the 5th best fantasy goalkeeper, 1 point ahead of Simon Mignolet! He faces a terrible Fulham side and should be able to get a result. If you are trying to choose between American goalkeepers, I'd go with this American. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Michel Vorm - Swansea face Hull City this weekend and Vorm is coming off a clean sheet against Newcastle. He will be shooting for another clean sheet here. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Vito Mannone - Chelsea put four goals past him on Tuesday. Vito gets to face Tottenham this weekend. Tottenham's struggles to find the back of the net have been well documented but they seem to be figuring things out with four goals in their past two games. Could be another long day for Vito. (VERDICT: BENCH)

Petr Cech - I thought he would be able to keep Sunderland at bay, but they managed to put three goals past him. Mainly due to horrible defending, especially on set pieces. Chelsea need to fix their defensive issues and they need to fix them fast! They face Stoke City who are notorious for not scoring very much. Let's hope Chelsea figure things out and Cech can record his fifth clean sheet of the season. (VERDICT: PLAY)

DEFENDERS

Dejan Lovren - After starting out the season on absolute fire, Southampton have come back down to earth. Lovren has not recorded more than 2 fantasy points since Southampton's 2-0 victory over Fulham on October 26th. He gets to face Manchester City this weekend. It's not gonna be pretty. (VERDICT: BENCH)

Steven Caulker - Cardiff face Crystal Palace and there is a good chance for Caulker to record a second straight clean sheet. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Glen Johnson - I like his chances to have a productive game against West Ham. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Ashley Cole - He should be back in the starting XI this weekend and has a nice match-up against Stoke. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Ryan Shawcross - Going up against Chelsea, I wouldn't expect much from him. (VERDICT: BENCH)

Kyle Walker - He has been very active on the attack and should create a lot of chances for Tottenham against a weak Sunderland side. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Maynor Figueroa - You really shouldn't have anyone from Hull City starting. (VERDICT: BENCH)

MIDFIELDERS

Aaron Ramsey - Never. Bench. Ramsey. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Jason Puncheon - The match-up is decent against Cardiff but I wouldn't roll the dice with him. (VERDICT: BENCH)

Shinji Kagawa - He has been in awful form lately. (VERDICT: BENCH)

Adnan Januzaj - Perhaps David Moyes will realize this kid could provide a spark for his team and start him. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Fabian Delph - He had a great game during the week and should follow it up with another solid performance against a weak Fulham side (I feel like I'm saying that a lot, did I mention Fulham sucks?) (VERDICT: PLAY)

Kevin De Bruyne - Jose Mourinho talked up his chances of playing a few days ago, and I seriously thought he would play him during the week. Perhaps he was saving him so he could start over the weekend. It's hard to predict what Mourinho will do but I'm going out on a limb and saying De Bruyne will start this match. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Adam Lallana - Disappointing form has continued and will continue against Manchester City. (VERDICT: BENCH)

STRIKERS

Romelu Lukaku - Really? Do I have to tell you again? (VERDICT: PLAY)

Luis Suarez - Of course you play him, silly. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Marouane Chamakh - Don't let his goal fool you. He's still Chamakh. (VERDICT: BENCH)

Rickie Lambert - I wouldn't play him against City. (VERDICT: BENCH)

Olivier Giroud - Wenger fooled us all and played Nicklas Bendtner during the week, and it paid off. Even though Bendtner missed several easy chances, he scored in the opening minutes and that's all Arsenal needed to come away with the 3 points. Wenger avoided having to play Giroud, which means he is well rested. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Roberto Soldado - He didn't play at all during the week, one can only assume he will start this match. He needs to score. He hasn't scored since October 27th. I think he scores against Sunderland. (VERDICT: PLAY)

Frazier Campbell - Good match-up on paper against Crystal Palace but I don't think he finds the back of the net. Palace seem to be finding an identity under Tony Pulis. (VERDICT: BENCH)
