Without giving too many details about the league set-up, etc. I have a quick question about a trade. This is a keeper league where we keep 15 MLB players from our 25 player roster each season. We also keep 5 MiLB players from our minor league roster each season. I have built this team after taking over 5 years back when it was the dead last place so I had firmly focused on the minor leagues and trading up in the draft etc. Now with an good team, I still am drawn to the minor league studs.
I was approached by an owner who wanted to acquire one of my Heyward, Stanton, Bruce, or Hosmer. Hosmer is the most available of these 4 players in my opinion and the owner really doesn't have much to offer other than the minor league stud Oscar Tavarez. Hitting is more valued in the scoring but he does have CC Sabathia, Matt Moore, and Matt Cain who are interesting but my MLB staff is well stocked with the likes of King Felix, Shields, Gallardo, Hanson, among others.
I can spare a 1B guy as I have Adrian Gonzalez at 1B and Buster Posey who can go between C and 1B if needed. Am I just being a glutton for the stud young OF guys by wanting Tavarez or would the redundancy of having Hosmer be better since Gonzalez is a bit inconsistent and its reasonable to expect a bit a bounce back from Hosmer?
Is Tavarez worth acquiring even with the guys above discussed and the potential of Hosmer? 1B isn't exactly as stocked as it used to be... The most recent offer from the other owner was Hosmer plus a draft pick for either CC or Cain.
Thanks for any and all discussion.
