After watching the 49ers make their best playoff run in 15 years (boy has it been a long time for them) it has become clear to me the constant mismatch Vernon Davis is. I know the tight end position is having their glory years with Gronk and Graham competing for the best tight end season ever.....but don't overlook the 49er tight end. Taking a look at his playoff numbers last year, it seems to me the 49ers decided to make him the focal point of the passing game and he produced.

7 rec 180 yards 2 TD 10 targets-42 attempts (target 23.8%)

3 rec 112 yards 2 TD 5 targets-26 attempts (target 19.2%)

I know I will be targeting VD in my upcoming fantasy drafts while others are going to reach and take Gronk/Graham in the late 1st/early 2nd rounds. Vernon Davis with a ADP of 54.2 (yahoo) is a steal in the early 5th round. With the other weapons the 49ers added (Randy Moss-who knows how long he lasts, Mario Manningham-solid #3 WR, and A.J. Jenkins-needed deep threat) it will be tough for opponents to double VD. A single covered Vernon Davis is an open Vernon Davis. Enjoy having VD (no pun intended) and wait a bit on your TE.
