So today at 8:00 p.m. Eastern the "draft lottery" kicks off. I have doubted the legitimacy of the draft lottery for years...well, actually, since the very first one. This year the supposed odds favor seem to favor Charlotte or Washington. The Knicks would have to be considered favorites if they had any chance at all, but they don't. So it's probably easier to just give the pick to Brooklyn. That'll keep ESPN happy. What tempers that thought, though, is that there is no bona fide super star in this year's draft. So a lesser important franchise in the pecking order may be given the #1 pick instead. Sometimes it's easier to work from the bottom, up. Of course, these may all be wrong.
