Seesaw Report: May 6-12

PHOENIX, AZ - MARCH 09: Norichika Aoki #7 of the Milwaukee Brewers of the Milwaukee Brewers is congratulated by Taylor Green #5 after scoring his first run for the his new team against Cleveland Indians during a spring training baseball game at Maryvale Baseball Park on March 9, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona. Sorry to be bringing you this weeks Seesaw report a bit late. This week is headlined by some midwest callups and injured Brewers. Let's get to it.

Hitters Up

Taylor Green - I mentioned him in last weeks Seesaw Report, with the hopes that the Brewers would move Aramis Ramirez to 1B and stick Green at 3B. Well, they haven't done that, but Green has still received some playing time, and is worth a look if it remains consistent. Click here for a quick scouting report on Green via Baseball Prospect Nation (#4).

Brian Dozier - Dozier isn't a top prospect by any means, but he IS the new starting shortstop for your Minnesota Twins worst team in baseball. He's not likely to be anything more than average if that, but given the position scarcity he might be worth a look in deep leagues.

Adrian Cardenas - Cardenas had 2,569 at-bats in the minors before getting promoted by the Cubs. He's always been able to hit for average but has struggled to find a defensive home. If he gets regular playing time, he could be worth a look in deep leagues.

Ryan Zimmerman - Activated from the DL on May 8th. Should be in all lineups going forward.

Justin Sellers - Only worth a note because the Dodgers recalled him and signed Aaron Miles to a minor league deal recently. This is noteworthy because of Dee Gordon's struggles so far. I think as long as the Dodgers are winning, they'll live with his lack of production, but if they start losing he could get demoted.

Hitters Down

Carlos Gomez - Gomez heads to the DL due to a strained left hamstring, though unless your fantasy league counts UZR, he was unlikely to be of much help.

Alex Gonzalez - It's been a rough couple weeks for the Brewers as they've lost Gamel, Gonzalez and Gomez. Gonzalez is done for the year with a knee injury. Cesar Izturis will be his replacement.

Justin Morneau - The sad tale of Justin Morneau continues as he heads to the DL with a sore wrist. We can all be thankful that it's not a complication from a concussion but it's frustrating as a fantasy owner nonetheless. This opens up more playing time for Ryan Doumit.

Chris Iannetta - Headed to the DL with a fractured right wrist. John Hester was called up to take his place and is making his first start today.

Pitchers Up

Alex White - White was promoted to the Rockies rotation following Jhoulys Chacin's demotion to Triple-A, and subsequently placed on the Disabled List. White should be around an average starter with a little potential for more, but he's not a big upside guy either. Worth spot starting in plus matchups.

Christian Friedrich - Friedrich was a first round pick by the Rockies who had a great start to his minor-league career and then stagnated, held back by injuries. He's had a bit of a turnaround season so far, and his season-debut was fantastic, though it was only against the Padres. Friedrich is a wait-and-see type of guy, but certainly worth a start in plus pitching environments.

Pitchers Down

Liam Hendriks - A popular prospect for reasons unbeknownst to me, Hendriks was optioned to Triple-A. He probably shouldn't see much more than a September call up, but the disarray in the Twins rotation means we're likely to see him again before too long.

Drew Pomeranz - Heading the opposite way of his brother Stu, Pomeranz was demoted to Triple-A. We should see him again relatively soon given the amount of movement in the Colorado rotation. If White or Friedrich struggle, I'd expect to see Pomeranz back. He's droppable in all leagues in the meantime.
