I'm trying to trade for Hosmer in a 12 team, 5x5 dynasty.
I know, I know. He's a stud. And my team is nowhere near contending and is built on a lot of youth and top prospects but I really want to make this deal.
The owner of Hosmer also has Prince Fielder, Ike Davis, and Justin Smoak at 1st so it's not like he would have a hole there after a trade. His weakest spots are 3rd base (Sizemore - DL), Shortstop (Jeter), and Pitching. His best pitchers are Dan Haren and Jaime Garcia but after that it drops off quickly. His other pitchers are Dickey (37), Chris Carpenter (37), Shawn Marcum, and Ryan Vogelsong. Carpenter is great, I know, but did you know that he has pitched 700 innings over the past 3 seasons including playoffs? At 37, and those crazy innings, his arm won't hold up much longer. Remember, this is a guy who's had arm injuries before too.
Here is my team FYI:
C - S.Perez, Mesoraco
1B - Goldschmidt, Pena
2B - Kipnis
3B - Headley, Morel
SS - Y.Escobar
OF - Ethier, Boesch, Duda, Viciedo, Bourjos
SP - Beckett, Holland, Luebke, E.Santana, Buchholz, Nicasio, Pomeranz
MiLB - Arenado, Rendon, D'Arnaud, Bauer, T.Walker, Paxton
I tried these 2 offers for Hosmer straight up:
Send Rendon, d'Arnaud, Viciedo and 2013 1st rd pick
Send Rendon, d'Arnaud, Bauer and 2013 1st rd pick
Am I offering too little? Am I offering too much? Do I even have the players to acquire Hosmer?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Please be easy on criticizing my team. I took it over in September and it had Aubrey Huff at 1st and Vernon Wells in the OF and Tommy Hunter and "Fausto Carmona" at SP to name a few. It's come a LONG way.
