Which 1B should I trade?

If you could get Carlos Santana that would be great. He’s going to be an elite fantasy catcher for the next several years.

However, I think you might be better served upgrading at OF depending on your options.

I’d scan the other teams rosters to see what you might be able get back in a package for Pujols and keep Hosmer and Fielder. OF that I think their current market value in AL only leagues that would be enticing in a 4 × 4 format would be Adam Jones, Carl Crawford, Brennan Boesch, and Peter Bourjos…. and in the right deal I’d even look to buy low on a Grady Sizemore or Colby Rasmus. Your options are probably pretty limited due to the large amount of teams in your league, but these are a few that have some appeal.

If it would take a Fielder to get a Longoria, I’d pull the trigger on that. Others that I’d look at building a package around or have included in a deal would be Matt Wieters, Lonnie Chisenhall, and the aforementioned Carlos Santana. Good luck!

But I think in general do your best to hang onto Hosmer. He would likely net you less that Pujols or Fielder, and he’s the youngest of the trio. All else being equal, I’d shop Fielder and Pujols and trade which ever one you can get more out of.

On a side note, I love Carlos Santana a lot, but I would not trade any of the 3 straight up for him. Catchers tend to wear out a lot earlier in their careers, and, well, we saw what happened when the Dodgers tried to “save” Russel Martin by playing him at 3B. I am afraid something similar might happen to Santana in a few years.
