Fantasy Baseball All Questions Answered Thread
Hey folks. If we didn't get to your questions in our Monday and Wednesday chats, feel free to post them here and I will get to them in the morning.
You can ask me about our rankings, your keeper choices or any trades you are pondering. We have just 3 playoffs games left, and then it will be baseball season....or close to it.
And if you don't have a question, just let us know your thoughts on anything baseball....Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, Albert Pujols, and Bryce Harper have been hot topics of late around here.

Travis d'Arnaud
How do you feel about him? What is his ETA and will he push J.P.A. to DH? Will he be an offensive star or comparable to McCann?

Arencibia isn't good enough to play DH
He needs to seriously improve his on base skills for that to happen. If d’Arnaud became anything like McCann, you’d have to be more than happy, but the odds of that happening aren’t great. It’s not to say he doesn’t have the potential to be, but few people realize how good McCann is and there are very few prospects I’d compare him to.

Thanks
Yea, I didn’t mean to compare him to McCann. I own both in my dynasty league and I was wondering how likely it was that d’Arnaud could “replace” McCann’s production

Wouldn't say replace
But he can be a solid option in the next couple of years, assuming he doesn’t completely collapse.

d'Arnaud
I like him and think he will be a 20 HR guy at catcher which is pretty valuable. I won’t slap the McCann comparison on him, but I do remember KLaw saying he has All Star potential.
Once he is ready, JPA will be on the bench, DH, or traded.

As a Dodgers fan,
do you have any unique insight on Hiroki Kuroda?
by Robert L. Bishop on Jan 22, 2012 12:07 AM EST reply actions
Kuroda
everything you read about him is true. For me, he was the Dodgers #2 starter the last few years. Solid and consistent, and the NYY will be very happy with him. He is a battler, who isn’t afraid to throw strikes.
He doesn’t get the love he deserves, but Yankee fans will like him from Day 1. The Dodgers, and I, will miss him for sure.
Personal note, I traded for him in the UBA league last year, and in his last 11 starts, he won 7 games with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.174 WHIP. He helped me with the league, along with a few others.

Russell Martin
What do you see his average being in 2012? How many homers?

Martin
I think he will be a similar hitter that he was last year….decent power, maybe 15 HRs and a low BA.

All things being equal,
Holland all the way. He’s trending up, Buchholz is on his way down.

Trade offer
NL-only keeper auction league … I have an offer on the table where I would give up a high-but-fair-priced Tulo and get back a cheap Strasburg, cheap LoMo, & cheap Alonso. I have depth at SS. Should I do this deal? Thanks!
can you provide
the salary for each….this sounds interesting and that info would help.

You bet
I can assign my franchise tag to Tulo (which allows me to keep him at $0 for 1 year – the following year he will be available to keep for 3 years at his book price +$5). However, I also have a $47 Matt Kemp who I could use the tag on. Stras is $10, LoMo is $11, and Alonso is $5 (the minimum keeper value). I have a $10 Castro and a $5 Gordon at SS also. So … the thinking is that this deal would net me an additional $21 to spend at auction in addition to the three players I would receive in return. Hope that helps. Thanks again for the advice!
Keeper
Keeping Three out of R Howard, B Harper, B Phillips, M Morse, H Pence, R Zimmerman
Thanks
I'm still walking, so I'm sure that I can dance
for me
Harper, Phillips, Zimmerman
but it depends how long you can keep them. if only for this year, I replace Harper with Morse or Pence.

Juan Francisco- 3B Reds
Any insight into what he will do this year? I’ve heard Dusty say he will be on the bench but I just don’t see Scott Rolen staying healty.
Francisco
you have to think he has the upperhand should Rolen not stay healthy this season.
Francisco could be a 15-20 HR guy with a .250 BA

Can the next Mike Schmidt go 25/25 this year?
by Fantasy Baseball Vision on Jan 22, 2012 4:00 PM EST reply actions
not sure
he is the next Mike Schmidt, but I could see a 20 HR, 15-18 SB season from him with a BA in the .280-.290 range
