5:00 PM EST to Tokyo
Let's just say that by happenstance that Yu Darvish doesn't sign with the Texas rangers today at the 5 PM deadline. Does this make the Rangers still players in the market for available free agent pitchers Roy Oswalt and Edwin Jackson. Or do they turn there sights on Prince Fielder instead. Or in some crazy world they go crazy and sign a little from both scenarios. There line-up without Prince is pretty stoic as it is now, but is the Angels signing of Albert a pushing point to make them better.
More after the jump.
The Rangers line-up as it sits now:
1 2B Ian Kinsler
2 SS Elvis Andrus
3 Cf Josh Hamilton
4 DH Michael Young
5 3B Adrian Beltre
6 RF Nelson Cruz
7 C Mike Napoli
8 1B Mitch Moreland
9 LF David Murphy/Martin
Derek Holland
Neftali Feliz
Prince Easily slots in behind Josh Hamilton, who will and should be affected the most by the Prince signing as he is an impending free agent in 2013. This is what that line-up would look like if that did occur.
1 2B Ian Kinsler
2 SS Elvis Andrus
3 Cf Josh Hamilton
4 1B Prince Fielder
5 DH Michael Young
6 3B Adrian Beltre
7 RF Nelson Cruz
8 C Mike Napoli
9 LF David Murphy/Martin
To me this is the best line-up in baseball from top to bottom. So at the cost of signing Fielder they would in turn lose Hamilton and Darvish. (Granted they don't resign Hamilton). Prince to me would be an absolute beast in not only this line-up but paying half his games in Arlington. So I'm wondering if the Rangers may be better off fielding the line-up that includes Fielder instead of Darvish and signing an Oswalt to give them veteran depth in the rotation. Then they can add a starting pitcher at the deadline for half the price and prospects to finally push them over the top in the World Series.
So basically i'm asking for opinions on whether the Rangers would be better off allocating their money to Prince instead of Darvish and taking there chances on the available SP left in free agency.

I'd think the bigger worry is losing Kinsler long term, not Hamilton
If you want to say dumb things, you can't get mad when I call you dumb.
Agree
To some degree, I think Kinsler re-signs with Texas regardless of any move that they make. Hamilton won’t be considered if they go the Fielder route.

Fielder
would be my #2 in my Top 12 if he does sign with Texas.
