Victor Martinez Season in doubt

Clearly putting his season in jeopardy. Adjust your rankings accordingly as this will definately impact the C/1B rankings but also affect the Tigers line-up.

Well, for all you head-to-head points league players, I had V-Mart as my #1 catcher for 2012 so, pretty much knock him out and bump everyone up a spot. Probably lets either Devin Mesoraco or Salvador Perez crack the Top 20.

He was my only catcher in a Keeper league

So reacted quickly and dealt Trevor May, SP PHI for Wilson Ramos,

I think so

A 24-year old starting catcher who had a fine rookie season after being a highly touted prospect for a 22-year old pitching prospect who hasn’t reached AA yet. I would say you did mighty fine Jax.

I was thinking so, just wanted to get some back-up on my thoughts. Considering it’s a 16 team league, Catcher is thin, and because of V-Marts injury today, I felt pretty lucky to get a potential top 10 catcher for a Mid-level Pitching prospect.

In my keeper league

I am keeping Wieters and bringing up J. Montero and Mesoraco. I’m hoping someone gets desperate (2 catcher league and all) and gives up someone of value now that VMart’s probably done.

Ahh terrible news for my team where V-Mart was my only Catcher, Braun is on the shelf for 50 games and Cabrera was my 1B and needs protection now.

Any chance that Montero starts the year with C eligibility in ESPN leagues? I have him as well.

Probably not ...

I know he doesn’t meet the Yahoo! qualifications and I’m fairly certain Yahoo! is one of if not the most lenient in terms of position eligibility requirements.

Good news is he should get eligibility by the end of April I would think. Just draft a high-teen catcher and pencil them in until May and play Montero at DH if you can’t do better there.

The possible loop hole in ESPN is that a player must have played 20 games the previous year at a given position to qualify at that position. Montero didnt play 20 games at any one position last year, so it will come down to where Seattle SAYS they are going to play him….we will see.
