Help needed on a baseball question
I was thinking of proposing Mike Moustakas' (5m/4 years) owner for A-Rod (20m/2 years).
Now my concern is that Moustakas is the next Billy Butler in KC, plus in a few years Cheslor Cuthbert (whom I would like to draft in the next minor league draft we have in the spring) will be likely playing 3B which might make Moustakas less relevant. I like getting rid of A-Rod's expensive deal and the German surgeries don't help with the confidence either. I would have to play likely half of A-Rod's contract to make the contracts work but what do you think? Would it be worth it or not?
My Roster:
C-W. Ramos, 1B- Ike Davis, 2B-Cano, 3B- A-Rod, SS-A. Cabrera, OF-D. Young, A. Jones, Joey Bats, UTIL-Nick Swisher
SP-Haren, Sale, Surkamp, Holland, Nicasio, Minor, J. McDonald
RP-Melancon, Hanrahan, and Mike Adams
BN-Harper, Trout, Wil Myers, C. Kelly, M. Banuelos, S. Miller, Moreland, Conger, C. McGehee, D. Lowe, and B. Cecil

YES
Arod will not be same power hitter he has been in years past, imo.

Mous
And just a reminder, before the 2011 season, Moustakas and Hosmer were practically interchangeable. Hosmer’s stock has risen for great reason, but Mous still has an impact bat. Great time to buy!

So I see you all are not concerned about the "Billy Butler"effect
I agree that Mous was projected to be a stud and when he wasn’t last year, I was surprised too.
If Cuthbert is really knocking on the door,
rest assured that KC will move Butler (or Mous or Cuth, but likely Butler).
Paying half of A-Rod’s contract seems a bit steep though.
Mous is a better keeper... not even close
Moust is the better keeper here. Arod is likely a 120 game player with downside risk and moust is likely to hit for 20+ HR with strong upside for the longer term.
