Minor League Monitor - Carolina League

Manny Machado - Orioles  SS  DOB: 07/06/92

Machado's bat has been in neutral since reaching High-A. In 10 games he is hitting .171 with a home run, 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.

Drew Pomeranz - Indians  SP  DOB: 11/22/88

Pomeranz continues to roll along with a league leading 2.06 ERA. He has 88 strikeouts in 70 innings. Pomeranz emerging as a star prospect is yet another success story for the Indians farm system this year that has seen Carlos Carrasco and Alex White contribute in Cleveland.

Bryce BrentzRed Sox  RF  DOB: 12/30/88

Brentz is hitting the ball with authority this year. In 17 games since being promoted to High-A he is batting .279 with 8 home runs. Brentz is turning into one of the better power hitting prospects in the minors.

Tyler Townsend - Orioles  1B  DOB: 05/14/88

Townsend has increased his power output this season and he currently has an excellent .252 ISO. His 8/58 BB/K ratio is a problem that will need to be fixed before he can hope to succeed at the higher levels.

Anthony Ranaudo - Red Sox  SP  DOB: 09/09/89

After a shaky first start in the Carolina League Ranaudo was able to string together 3 solid starts in a row. Then his latest 2 starts did some damage to his stats. He allowed 9 runs in 10 innings despite not allowing a walk.

Barret Loux - Rangers  SP  DOB: 04/06/89

Barret Loux has been on a hot streak, allowing 2 earned runs in his last 3 starts. He has a 3.18 ERA with 92 Ks in 79.1 innings. So far his arm has held up and the Diamondbacks are probably kicking themselves for not signing him.

Miles Head - Red Sox  1B  DOB: 05/02/91

41 extra base hits in 66 games propelled Head into High-A where after 6 games he is hitting .333/.360/.458 with 3 doubles.
