Keeper League Trade Help

I'm currently in the middle of the pack of my H2H 18 team yahoo keeper league. I was just offered Melky Cabrera, Dillon Gee, and Josh Collmenter for Delmon Young. I'm not even starting Delmon so losing him wouldn't hurt especially since he's suckin it up thus far but my gut tells me not to give up on him and that he can produce numbers like last year going forward. My main question is, Melky's status/numbers if he were to be traded, which seems probable. I guess my starting pitching could always use some help in such a deep league as this. What do you guys see Gee's and Collmenter's value going forward and do you think i should pull the trigger? Thanks

I’m not sure about Gee (I don’t know much about him), but Collmenter is playing so far above his head that the other manager is rightly trying to sell him high. There are so many signs that he’s a one-year-wonder, and will be utterly useless after this year. So you’re basically looking at Melky for Young, and that I wouldn’t do. If I was you (and this is only my opinion), I’d hold onto Young and hope for a rebound. If Melky gets traded, there’s not even a guarantee that he’d be a starter on another team. There’s a reason he’s bounced around.

but Gee has won 9 games this season…come out of nowhere. He’s not a big strikeout pitcher, and he’s been lucky as his BABIP is a low .237.

I would keep Young for now.

Meh

None of these players is really keeper-level, IMO. The only one on the border would be Young, and none of the guys you are being offered is going to put you over the edge for this year, so, unless your pitching is really so weak that Gee and Collmenter – who both are due for some significant regression – are major upgrades, I’d stand pat. Delmon Young has the talent and pedigree to bounce back.

melky is an amazing player.

that said. i dont see him producing this consistent in ears to come. and the pitchers arent really anything worth keeping

Melky is not an amazing player. A 6.9 WAR across 7 seasons does not add up to an “amazing” player. And that’s WITH a -.0.7 dWAR. So he’s a liability in the field, and he has a career OPS+ of 90. Since you don’t understand statistics, an AVERAGE player has an OPS+ of 100. Melky is a 4th outfielder, or a basically average 3rd outfielder. Which is exactly what MLB and pretty much everyone sees him as.

one more question

I’m thinking about throwin in the towel this year, i wanna deal Alexei Ramirez for Paul Goldschmidt and Dellin Betances. I have both Dee Gordon and Hak Ju Lee waiting in the more sooner than later wings. The team im dealin with is sittin in 4th place with darwin barney at SS who isn’t bad but doesnt provide what alexie can. What do you think? seem like a deal you would do in his eyes/mine

i think that may be a good deal. goldschmit is sure to play next year.

and bentances is an amazing young prospect. tho he may be dealt this year or within the coming years. but that may be good for him, because he may start sooner
