Trade: Gio Gonzalez for WHICH Prospects?
I took over a dead-last team in a 12-team dynasty league. It's a head-to-head 6x6 league (with Holds and OPS) with 40-man rosters and 65 Minors players per team.
I have received several offers for my best pitcher, Gio Gonzalez. Is now a good time to "sell high" on the 25-year-old LHP? Should I keep Gio, or trade him for one of the offers below?
#1. Gio Gonzalez for Cory Luebke, C.J. Cron, 3 draft picks
#2. Gio Gonzalez for Taylor Jungmann, Jackie Bradley, Kaleb Cowart, 10 draft picks
#3. Gio Gonzalez + Peter Tago for Jonathan Singleton, Matt Barnes, Chad James, 10 draft picks
#4. Gio Gonzalez for Yonder Alonso, Jason Esposito, L.J. Hoes, Rex Brothers, Xavier Avery, Kentrail Davis
#5. Gio Gonzalez for Eric Thames, Brian Goodwin, Kyle Seager, 2 draft picks

No brainer
Unless the draft picks are really bad, I would take the 2nd or 3rd offer and run. Jungmann, Tago and/or Barnes could prove just as good in a 3 or 4 years. Blind luck could net one out of those 10 picks as good or better than GIo while savvy drafting could net another player or two.
A few years ago I was in rebuilding mode and traded Justin Upton for 7 draft picks which turned into Ackley, Scheppers, (Zach) Wheeler, (Derek) Norris, Trout, Mier and Lyles. Lyles and Ackley are the only two to have hit the majors thus far. Therefore the jury is still out but I felt I got the better end of that deal. Trading young talent for younger pieces is a tough decision but when you have numbers on your side, I think you roll the dice.
I 2nd this
If you’re in dead last and just taking the team over you should rebuild and go with #2 or #3. Gonzalez should be a great player for years to come but it’s probably best to flip him for what could be 3 or more pieces that will help you when you’re ready to compete.

Thank you
I went with #2, and was also able to get Dwight Smith Jr. plus higher draft picks than originally offered.
I appreciate the feedback. The Upton trade story really resonated while I debated whether or not it’s the right time to sell on Gio. Thanks again!

if gio is your best pitcher and your in dead last. you may be better off to sell the farm and rebuild.
keep maybe your 1 or 2 best hitters. and look for young talent at pitching and ofcourse bryce harper
