PrintI am in a 30 team dynasty league with minors and contracts and everything like that, and I currently own Josh Johnson and I asked the Pineda owner if he would do Johnson for Pineda straight up. He said that hed get back to me, but hed probably do it. Should I trade Josh Johnson for Michael Pineda in a 30 team dynasty league? this is to get to 75 words ba ba fa ta di do dee.

I love JJ, but he’s injury prone now. He’s shown amazing stuff over a few years, though, and Pineda’s only shown it for 1/2 season. I’m not sure if I’d do the deal or not, but Pineda’s stuff looked nasty at the ASG.

I just traded Jacoby Ellsbury for Jay Bruce and Mark Rogers (brewers top prospect). I got a good deal didnt i?
pretty good deal. especially if your in a keeper league.
bruce will be a nice mix of power and speed and BA.
while esburry is having a solid year. he will start to decline soon.
the only safe red sox their is, is crawford. maybe you should try buying him low.

Youk, Pedroia, AGon (probably MVP), Ellsbury, … the list could go on. Nonetheless, they all disagree with your statement about CC (who, by the way, has been anything but safe).

I’ve laughed at a lot of your posts before, but this by far the most laughable. First of all, when I said CC I meant Crawford (in response to your post above stating that Crawford is the only safe Red Sox player). Also, how can you possibly say that Youk sucks when he consistently puts up better numbers than Teixeira across the board (with the exception of HRs)? And Ellsbury leads the league in SBs when he’s healthy, while having a .374 OBP this season to go with his ridiculous .870 OPS. Pedroia is a monster, batting .377 over his last 2 months while having one of the best gloves around. AGon is a beast and was born to play at Fenway. You’re right that he’s having his best year ever – most players would after moving from Petco to Fenway.

AVG, OBP, SLG%, OPS and OPS+ (whatever that is) are all very similar statistics.
So Teixeira leads in HRs, RBIs and runs. Might not be as many categories but these are actually the stats that mean the most in baseball. Especially runs and RBIs. Just saying

If by “similar” you mean “accurate offensive stats”, then yeah. You’re essentially arguing that hitting a HR is more valuable than hitting 3 doubles. RBIs and Runs are counting stats depending upon who hits in front of and behind you in the order. As far as “Tex is truly the best defensive 1B”, please refer to my defensive stats that I posted above. I know you don’t understand them, but do a little research and you’ll see that Tex is not better offensively nor defensively.

but if you really want to bring them up, then please see Youkilis and his record (that means nobody has done it more) streak of 194 games. And THAT streak was playing both 1B and 3B, which I hope you can at least admit is a tougher position to play than 1B.

It’s an opinion of the official scorer, and the opinion is almost always influenced by the player’s stature. Have you never seen an obvious error that was called a basehit, or the other way around? If you haven’t, then you don’t watch much baseball.
Most errors are obvious/clear errors
But sometimes the official scorer does influence it. But you cannot call it a useless stat

Comparing the talent level of two players using runs and RBIs is one of the most absurd comments I’ve heard in quite some time.
These stats are nearly entirely dependent on others abilities.
woba, OPS+, wRC+ and others are immensely more useful than what was on the back of a baseball card in 1947.

if you wanna hold on to agonz. than i suggest (well either way) moving ortiz.
see if you can get some pitching help for ortiz.
papelbon is not to great of a closer. but is a big name and maybe you could package those 2 together with an average pitcher and get a good pitcher.
i see a good year next year for crawford.
and if you really wanna hold on to agonz. he will be consistentley average for years to come. so he may not be a bad idea to hold on too. but i think his stock is/will be at an all-time high for the remainder of this season.
i suggest you hold on to him if your close in a playoff race, if you are far ahead or far behind, a trade to someone that is close in the race may be wise. you would get more than he is worth.
i do suggest you do whatever you can to get pitching help. besides JJ, you are running kinda flat on quality their.
bullpen is pretty bad.
but it is an amazing batting team.
(tho i think you made a turrile coice in picking the sox. the yanks would have been much smarter)

should I do Hanley Ramirez for Cole Hamles and Niel Walker? Keep in mind that hes been red hot lately. In his last 13 games, hes hitting .386 with 3 homeruns and 16 RBIs. Thats excluding today where hes already hit a homerun
dont trade hanley.
i think his off start is way behind him. and he is back to elite form.
no way would i trade a top 3 SS in this game. especially in a keeper league.
cole hamels is not enough for Hanley.
i personally would not trade him for anything shortof an A+ pitcher. not a Couple B- guys.
ut the main question is are you in the playoff race?

Yes I am... i am currently in 3rd place.
Ive had sooooooo many injuries this year. Braun, Crawford, Hanley, Ryan Zimmerman, and every single one of my starters (josh johnson, brett anderson, and clay bucholz). Considering all my injuries im actually pretty surprised that im still in 3rd. and btw, its a 6 × 6 roto league with OPS and Holds
And the tommy hanson owner offered me Jay Bruce for Tommy Hanson and a prospect.
The reason why id hesitate to do that is because Jay Bruce has superstar potential and is still just 23! But it obviously depends on the prospect
i'd keep bruce. tho you do need pitching help.
and if you think you can make a run for the championship. maybe you do this trade if the prospect is good enough. if not then i’d keep bruce and rely on hitting. maybe strongly consider trading one of my good hitters cough Agonz cough who wont do as well next year for some solid pitching.
oh. and could you explain to me a roto league?
im usually in H2H. but i am in one roto league and i have no idea what the fuck it is thats going on

Im actually take your advice and put AGon on the block and see what I can get for him.
You dont know what a roto league is? oooooo… your really missing out. Its called 6 × 6 cause there are 6 hitting and 6 pitching categories. ill just use the 30 team league im in. the hitting categories are runs, hrs, rbis, average, SBs, and OPS. pitching categories are wins, era, whip, Ks, holds, and saves. So if i lead the league in homeruns, i get 30 points, if im last in homeruns i get 1 point. 2nd place get 29 3rd get 28 and so on. this applies to every category. so i currently have like 240 points or something like that. Im 7th in era so i get 23 points for that. so if im 1st in every category i would have whatever 30 × 12 is. last in every category would have 12 points. do you kinda understand it now? i prefer roto over H2H. you should try it

Sabathia, Lincecum, Kershaw, Felix Hernandez, Weaver, Haren, Price, Verlander, Hamels, Lee, Halladay, Shields, Hanson, Jimenez, Cain, Wainwright, Pineda, Lester, Greinke, Gallardo, Josh Johnson, and Strasburg.
i'd say hanson, pineda, and hamels as not ace's. i'd put them in a catagory with annibal sanchez

He doesnt have that good of a team, only players he has that are actually good are Reyes and Wright and he wont trade them

I know thats my one problem, 4 out of my 5 starters are injured now so idk if i can win it this season. my Ks and Ws suck

I feel your pain. I have Wainwright, JJ and Strasburg. Needless to say, I’m in 11th place out of 12. Of course, it also didn’t help that Crawford, Wright, Stephen Drew, Hart, Morneau and Sizemore all spent time on the DL. Oh, and Rios is in a season-long funk. My team looks incredible on paper!
ow. that sucks. to start the season. i had posey. but had to drop him for injury purposes.
hamilton spent time on the DL, Kendrick spent time. JJ is still their, Colon, feliz, liarono.
but besides them. i’ve got a pretty solid team that hasn’t been DL’d. KEMP, Beltre, Konerko, King Feliz, Gio G, Masterson, gardner, peralta, chacin, etc.

Verlander owner says he wont trade Verlander for anything and hes the tigers and he hasnt really made that many trades…
I might be doing a prado for dunn type of deal
but idk if thats a good idea

And i may just have traded AGon.
AGon for Pineda Smoak and either Myers, Ackley, Franklin, or Hultzen. All 3 that I acquire are probably going to be future all stars.
