Roto Roundup: Dee Gordon Called Up, Anthony Rizzo Up on Wednesday?, Brennan Boesch Goes 5-6

PHILADELPHIA, PA - JUNE 06: Dee Gordon #9 of the Los Angeles Dodgers runs to thrid base during the game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on June 6, 2011 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Phillies won 3-1. (Photo by Drew Hallowell/Getty Images)

Just a quick roundup today as I got home late from the baseball game last night. There was plenty of news during the day and night with the MLB First Year Player Draft and news that the Dodgers called up shortstop prospect Dee Gordon.

In a huge surprise move, the Dodgers promoted shortstop prospect Dee Gordon on Monday, and DFA'd Juan Castro. This move means the end of Jamey Carroll playing everyday, as manager Don Mattingley stated that Gordon would be his everyday shortstop. I own Gordon in the UBA keeper league and activated him for Wednesday's games.

Speaking of Wednesday, there is a rumor out that the Padres will promote AAA first base prospect Anthony Rizzo on Wednesday. Rizzo has big time power and is having a tremendous year at AAA Tuscon this year. He is hitting .365-.444-.715 with 16 HRs, 63 RBIs and a 48-27 K/BB rate. Brad Hawpe moves to right field for the Padres once Rizzo is called up.

More Roto Roundup after the jump:

Star-divide

The Marlins finally placed shortstop Hanley Ramirez on the 15 day DL yesterday, but word is that he will be back when the 15 days are up, which appears to be early next week since the move was retroactive to May 30th.

The Athletics called up recently acquired infielder Scott Sizemore and sent down third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff. Sizemore pinch-hit and played second base last night for the A's and went 1-2.

Orioles starter Brian Matusz held the A's to 2 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 5+ innings on Monday and earned his first win of the season. Matusz managed just one ground ball out to go along with his 3 strikeouts.

Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera just keeps on hitting as he went 3-4 with a HR and 2 RBIs on Monday night. ACab is hitting .308-.358-.546 with 12 HRs and 42 RBIs this season. He is hitting more fly balls this year-37.6% vs 31.4% last year. His HR/FB rate may not be sustainable as it hovers around 15% vs a career average around 7%.

Reds outfielder Jay Bruce just keeps on hitting as he went 3-4 with 3 runs scored on Monday night. and is now hitting .298-.361-.575 with 17 HRs and 46 RBIs. He has raised his BA from .237 heading into the beginning of May to .298 after Monday's games.

Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman appears ready to be activated from the DL. After going 2-2 with a walk and two extra base hits on Sunday, he went 2-3 with a double at High A Potomac on Monday night. It's quite possible he will play at AA Harrisburg in his next game with a Friday activation as a possibility. Actually, looking at the Nationals schedule, they may elect to wait till next Tuesday to activate him as they start a 9 game homestand against the Cardinals.

Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, an RBI and a SB on Monday night. Braun raised his triple slash line to .309-.402-.564 with 13 HRs, 43 RBIs and 14 SBs. Who would you rather have? Braun or Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp?

Tigers outfielder Brennan Boesch went 5-6 with 2 HRs, 3 runs and 5 RBIs on Monday night. He is Fake Teams Fantasy Player of the Day. For the season, he is hitting .278-.338-.449 with 7 HRs and 32 RBIs this season. Fantasy owners recall his second half swoon last year, I am sure.

There was a report late last night that the A's with call up second base prospect Jemile Weeks on Tuesday after second baseman Mark Ellis had to leave Monday's game with a hamstring injury and he will more than likely end up on the DL. Weeks, the brother of Brewers second baseman Rickie, was hitting .321-.414-.446 with 3 HRs, 22 RBIs and 9 SBs at AAA Sacramento.

Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz is crazy hot now, as he went 2-4 with 2 HRs and 4 RBIs on Monday night. He is hitting .247-.304-.542 with 14 HRs and 33 RBIs this season. In his last 10 games, Cruz is 16-41 with  6 HRs and 12 RBIs.
