A “fantasy shark” is somebody who, seeing a slow pack of dim-witted fantasy dolphins, races in between their swimming lanes and makes a plunge. He seeks out weaker owners, exploits their weaknesses, and makes use of his own strengths. The fantasy shark is also adept at finding food in places where it is not normally found…say, a surfer near the shore. The fantasy surfer represents a player who, despite being meaty and full of eatable flesh, doesn’t swim with the big fish. Instead, he wades in shallower waters, going undetected despite his shiny board.
One of the most puzzling facts regarding the 2011 fantasy baseball season is how rare it’s been to find Danny Espinosa on a roster. He’s been a star surfer in the 2011 fantasy ocean, making use of his skill-set to put forth very valuable production numbers. It’s simply mind-boggling, therefore, that more sharks haven’t noticed him…especially considering the following facts:
