FUN POLL!!!
Ok, I don't know me an my bro started talking about this, but we began talking about for who's better. He argued that Aaron Hill is a better hitter than the Big Papi, David Ortiz. WTF?!?!?!?! He's just plain retarded. He just keeps on saying 36 homers! Completely disregarding his .200 BA last year. I tell him Papi hit 54 homers in 2006, then he says that was 5 years ago BLAH! So I need to prove to him Papi is x100 better than Aaron Hill. So here's a poll:

Ortiz was the greater hitter in his prime yes, but right now even with his stats down id say hill is the better hitter,
This is only because papi is getting old i his hey day he was a top 10 hitter in the whole league.
NO!!!
He is hitting .306 with 11 home runs. Aaron Hill hot .200 last year
Ask me which player I want in fantasy
I’m taking hill. If position didn’t play into the decision and it is just the bat, I’ll take Ortiz. Hill also has more upside going forward but this season I would probably take Papi. This reminds me of a debate two of my friends had a few years ago about vlad v. a-gon. People tend to think that players who have had better careers are better hitters, this isn’t always true.
those 36 HRs were an outlier
hill is a career .269/.322/.422 compared to Ortiz who is .282/.377/.545
Ortiz has had two straight years with HORRIBLE April/May numbers and still finished with a respectable offensive line
in fact, over the last 3+ seasons (2008-may 2011) ortiz is a .264/.359/.508 that is with he “decline”
I just dont think that it’s close on who the better hitter is, now fantasy asset, hill gets a big boost, but if offered to me in a fantasy league smaller than like 20 teams, i’d probably say no (bigger the league the higher chance i have a corpse at 2B and the hill upside might entice me)
but the moral of the story is that david ortiz is the much better hitter

AGon
I think I heard somewhere (don’t quote me on it – it may have actually just been the announcers during a game) that Papi credited AGon (at least partially) for his fast start to the season. I guess Papi was watching AGon go to all fields, and Papi remembered to do that instead of trying to pull everything.
